The following section will provide insight on how to post bail for an arrest made in Marion County.

How To Post Bail for an Arrest Made in Marion County: A Summary

Curious parties will be happy to know that Marion County Jail is open to those who wish to post a bond for someone 24 hours daily. There are several options to post a bond in Marion County.

The first option allows individuals to pay the complete amount of the bond at the Jail Information & Visitation Center at the County Jail. Payments may be made by cash or a verified bank check to the “Marion County Clerk of Courts”. The bond is written and processed once the payment has been received.

The second option allows for the use of debit or credit cards to post bail. Payment may be made online or by calling +1-888-726-6301.

Marion County also allows the posting of a bond through a bail bondsman. Interested persons may recruit a bondsman who may charge 10% of the total bond as a service fee.

Note that the service charge is non-refundable. An indemnitor (a friend or family member of legal age) will be needed to cosign the contract with the bail bondsman.

The bail will then pay the full bail amount to the court. After finalizing the paperwork and processing the payment, the arrestee gets released. The release process typically takes about two to twelve hours.

However, bonds are refundable (except service charges) as long as the individual released on bail attends all court hearings. The bail will not be refunded if the defendant misses court hearings or fails to follow the rules set by the court.

The law prohibits the sheriff’s office from recommending bail bond agencies. Therefore, interested persons can search local phone books or check online for licensed bail bondsmen in Marion County.
